The lawmakers across different parliamentary factions have submitted a formal request to Speaker Mohammed Halbusi to resume sessions after the end of the anniversary of Imam Hussein's death, Sair Makhif, a lawmaker from the rule of law coalition, said. He added that the House of Representative's presidency is committed to determining a date for the resumption of sessions, according to the letter they submitted, because there is no justification for continuing to disrupt the work of the House. Since late June, al-Sadr supporters stormed the Iraqi parliament, and forced its shutdown. They camped inside the building, leading the speaker to suspend parliamentary sessions indeterminably. When sit-ins in front of the parliament were ongoing, al-Sadr and his supporters called for the dissolution of the council of representatives, the Iraqi Supreme Court and Federal Judicial committee dropped the appeal and said that they "had no authority," to dissolve the parliament and that the body had its constitutional means to dissolve its self.

Over 190 Iraqi lawmakers have called on Iraqi Council of Representatives Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi to set a date for the resumption of the Iraqi parliament sessions.

The lawmakers across different parliamentary factions have submitted a formal request to Speaker Mohammed Halbusi to resume sessions after the end of the anniversary of Imam Hussein's death, Sair Makhif, a lawmaker from the rule of law coalition, said.
