People's Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chairwoman Pervin Buldan told a news conference that several pieces of evidence of Turkey's use of chemical weapons have surfaced in recent days that Turkey in its operations in the Kurdistan region.
An independent delegation should be formed to investigate the matter and reveal the facts, HDP's Buldan said during her speech in Ankara on October 22.
"In recent days, serious news, findings and allegations about the use of some chemical tools and materials, which are defined as war and crimes against humanity per international law, especially in cross-border operations [Turkey's invasion of Kurdistan region], have been reflected to the public," Turkish papers reported.
Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin slammed the claims as a "lie" and part of a "propaganda campaign" aimed at the [Turkish] military, police, and intelligence who crack down on the PKK guerillas.
The allegations that 'the Turkish Armed Forces use chemical weapons'... are completely unfounded and untrue," the defense ministry said, accusing some of seeking to cast a shadow on the army's accomplishments in its fight against the PKK.
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey's armed forces have never used chemical weapons and that legal action would be taken against those who make such allegations, broadcaster NTV reported on Friday.
In its latest reports, the PKK military wing of the People's Defence Force (HPG) central command announced that 17 of its members were killed in Turkish chemical attacks.
Turkey's use of Chemical weapons against the PKK guerrillas in the Kurdistan region is not documented or covered. However, some incidents raise concerns about Ankara's use of WMD in the Kurdistan region.
